The Bible has so many verses about God’s love, it’s hard to choose just one, but this one probably best sums up what I want to touch on here.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

As I sat contemplating a relationship in a book I just read and how it mirrors our relationship with Jesus, a revelation struck me out of nowhere, like a bolt of lighting.

God is good.

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 (ESV)

God loves me and wants good for me.

All my life I have struggled to believe that God loves me and wants good for me. It’s been especially hard the last three years as I have pursued a career in screenwriting, a career in anything, any job that would help me support my family, but the Bible says this:

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:31-32 (ESV)

And this:

My favorite verse has always been Jeremiah 29:11-“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (ESV) This verse is even more meaningful now.

God’s heart breaks along with mine when I experience disappointment, broken dreams, and even tragedy.

“Jesus wept.” John 11:35 (ESV)

Thankfully, I’m not dealing with any tragedy right now, but I tend to suffer from anxiety, always imagining the worst-case scenario. What if this happens? What if that happens? I’m always thinking about the what-ifs. This morning I realized that the what-ifs aren’t as scary when I realize that God is with me and grieves with me if and when dark times come.

God loves you too.

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” 1 John 4:9-10 (ESV)

I believe that a new perspective changes our experiences, and I can’t wait to see how this new perspective changes how I approach and react to things going on in my life.
